How it works

Three steps to your first conversation

  1. 01

    Tell people about yourself

Add your native language, the one you’re learning and your level. Then your interests and what you’re here for: language practice, friendship, pen pals, meetups or dating.

  2. 02

    Find your people

Search by language, country, city and age. The directory shows which native speakers are learning your language, so exchange partners are easy to spot.

  3. 03

    Chat and correct each other

Messages, voice notes, reactions and quoted replies. Correct a mistake from the message menu, and the fix appears right under the original.

What’s different here

Built so the conversation doesn’t stop at “hi”

Corrections inside the chat

We made corrections part of the conversation: pick your partner’s message, suggest a better version, and it appears under the original. No lectures, no awkwardness.

Voice messages

You can’t learn pronunciation from text alone. Record a phrase and get a spoken reply.

Compatibility

Answer questions about relationships, values, character and languages to see a match percentage on profiles. Only people who answered the same question can see your answer.

Encounters

Browse profiles one at a time. When the like is mutual, you both find out and can start chatting right away.

Privacy and safety

Choose who can message you: all members, friends only or nobody. Block anyone; reports about profiles or messages go to moderators. Pause or delete your profile whenever you want.

Trips

Add a trip with a city and dates. It shows up in the trips feed, so locals and people heading the same way can get in touch.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is it really free?

Yes. Signing up, search, messages, voice notes and corrections are free. There are no subscriptions and no locked features.

How do I find a language exchange partner?

Add your native language and the one you’re learning to your profile. Then pick a language in the search, or open the directory to see which native speakers are learning yours.

Is it for dating or just language practice?

Both. On your profile you choose what you’re looking for: language practice, friendship, pen pals, meeting in person or dating. You can search by goal, and Encounters shows mutual likes.

Who can see my profile?

Members and visitors to the site. You can hide it from search in your privacy settings. It doesn’t appear in Google or other search engines unless you turn that on, and the public directory only shows an anonymous card without your name.

What if someone sends me unpleasant messages?

Block them and they can’t message you again. You can report the message or profile to our moderators, and allow messages from friends only in your settings.

What language level do I need?

Any. Your level is on your profile, from beginner (A1–A2) to fluent, so partners can see how to talk to you.

The first message is the hardest. Then it gets easier.

Signing up takes a couple of minutes. After that you can search for partners and write to them straight away.
